The ribbon is cut, the confetti has settled, and Elanco’s 725 Indianapolis-based employees are snug in their new global HQ, working on the next era of growth and innovation. And, with leading innovation laboratories, an employee-forward design and plenty of collaboration space, that next era is positioned to be amazing.
The Vision Behind the Walls: Designed for Connection and Innovation
Our new state-of-the-art innovation center will become home to more than 725 employees based in the Greater Indianapolis area, while simultaneously adding a distinctive landmark to the city’s skyline and riverfront. The design of our new global headquarters reflects new concepts of ways of working. It creates a more comfortable, casual work environment and serves as a destination for Elanco’s teams to easily connect, collaborate and ideate.
Designed with our employees in mind, the campus boasts an array of amenities and features, including:
- Leading innovation laboratories
- A variety of work settings, including outdoor work areas, to accommodate neurodiversity
- An emphasis on open spaces for teams, customers and partners to connect
- An enhanced interior environment, prioritizing natural daylight, active circulation paths, and an air quality monitoring system to ensure adequate fresh air
- A versatile, multi-use collaboration building designed to flex with our needs, perfect for hosting major global customer events, scientific meetings and Connect Weeks
- LEED certification, signifying adherence to rigorous standards for sustainability in its design, construction, operation and maintenance
A Hub for One Health: The One Health Innovation District
The new global headquarters is about what we're building, and not just the building. The new campus accelerates our path to creating the adjacent OneHealth Innovation District, connecting human, animal, plant and environmental health.
Created in partnership with Purdue University and the State of Indiana, the OneHealth Innovation District is a purpose-built, community-centered research hub. It will unite corporate innovators, academic researchers, students, investors and government leaders to advance science and inspire innovation. The opening of the new Elanco global headquarters is the first of many big moments for the District that will drive innovation and improve lives for decades to come.
Rooted in Community: Investing in Indianapolis’s Future
Elanco is excited to join the downtown Indianapolis community, particularly the Valley Neighborhood, and deepen our commitment to the long-term success of our neighbors. Our vision for the new global headquarters has always been to create a destination that can be used by everyone in the community. It is a powerful testament to the collaborative spirit between Elanco and Indianapolis.
One example of this collaboration is Nutrition Secure Indianapolis, our one-year research-based initiative in partnership with Hatch for Hunger, Gleaners Food Bank and other local organizations that will not only provide nutritious food to neighborhood residents but also demonstrate the profound impact proper nutrition can have on health, education and economic outcomes.
Elanco is also supporting the development of new community amenities, including the extension the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the expansion of White River State Park into the Valley neighborhood. A new promenade trail along the river, new greenspaces and even new public art (read more about Water in Dripping, River here) will provide elements that our neighbors can enjoy every day.
Jay Napoleon, co-founder of the Valley Neighborhood where our new global headquarters is nestled, was quoted during our ribbon cutting event, "Today at this ribbon cutting, we celebrate not only the latest chapter in innovation for this historic site and the addition of a beautiful new building to the Indianapolis skyline, but also the profound promise of what modern placemaking can truly mean. We now understand that the function of any new building or space should be inclusive, transformative, and focused on creating a destination for all ages and backgrounds to gather. In short, that space should reflect and be part of the community, not separate from it. As downtown Indianapolis expands its footprint, we are fortunate that the people of Elanco not only understand that responsibility, but they embrace it."
