The Engineering function at Elanco is responsible for the application of engineering principles and expertise to support complex manufacturing processes at the site and to drive process improvements. Engineering teams include:
- Process Engineering - responsible for the technical support for operations areas with respect to the process and equipment.
- Project Engineering - responsible for the planning and execution of capital projects at the site.
- Reliability Engineering - responsible for the technical aspects of the maintenance program.
- Process Automation Engineering Manufacturing - responsible for providing technical support and oversight for manufacturing process controls systems.
The Maintenance team works closely with the operations to coordinate, plan, schedule and execute all site maintenance work to maximize equipment efficiency and uptime, with a focus on safety and compliance. The end goal is to keep the facility running.
Here at Elanco, we self-perform most of our processes to achieve faster solutions. We practice two types of Maintenance:
- Corrective Maintenance - comes through the action of work orders.
- Preventative Maintenance - generated on a schedule based on the failure and trends of the machinery.
Operations at Elanco consist of shift work; we make products, bring in raw materials, mix them up and transform them into new materials. We like to call it Scientific Line Work.
Manufacturing operations require regulations and standard operating procedures. At Elanco - it is a supported process; we teach people the process from the beginning to the end through regulated instructions and training programs. Some of our processes are manual, and some of them are done with automated equipment.
Elanco’s Supply Chain team consists of:
- Planners - create long-term direction for operations.
- Schedulers - develop detailed plans based on customers' needs and resources available at the sites.
The Technical Service and Manufacturing (TSMS) scientists at Elanco are responsible for the technical stewardship of the various manufacturing processes executed at the sites.
To provide support for manufacturing operations and maintain quality, our Quality Assurance team:
- Provides production floor support
- Maintains and improves the quality of systems
- Facilitates continuous improvement
This team may also be responsible for the batch release of material intended for market distribution.
Elanco’s Quality Control team is responsible for producing the analytical data necessary to back the claims of the products manufactured. Our chemists and lab technicians work collaboratively to test, verify and release data back to operations, allowing the product to be sold to the market.

“Elanco is a great company driven by its values and mission statement. They are very proud of their culture, and you can see it every day at work. It is visible that people want you to succeed, and they will schedule time for you regardless of their position. It is exciting that there is a place where I could use my science background and be helpful for different areas of the site.”

“One of the main things I like about working here is the people. People in Winslow were very welcoming, especially as I come from a different culture. I was part of the Elanco family from my internship to my transition to my full-time position. That was something I loved. As well as the daily challenges and being able to work in different departments is what I love here as well."
