Elanco SAP Ariba® Implementation
Elanco has streamlined our procurement and accounts payable processes by partnering with SAP Ariba to fulfill our vision of moving away from paper and manually transmitted documents. The transition to SAP Ariba accompanied the deployment of Elanco’s new SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform in early 2021.
Please read this update on the stabilization of our new systems, including important reminders regarding invoice processing and contact information.
This initiative represents a pivotal step in our path to becoming an independent Elanco, transitioning away from Eli Lilly and Company’s eConnect platform. We believe our new ERP, and transacting through SAP Ariba, help achieve our needs as a global independent animal health leader dedicated to innovating and delivering for farmers, veterinarians and pet owners, and the animals in their care – because making their life better, makes life better.
A primary rationale in our choice of SAP Ariba is the range of benefits the Ariba Network brings to our suppliers. Transacting purchase orders and invoices through the Ariba Network improves speed with real-time purchase order delivery, use of online catalogs and invoice automation which improves compliance. Suppliers seeking to grow their reach can also leverage the tools and connections on the Ariba Network to seek out potential new business opportunities.
It should also be noted that due to postal processes and manual interventions, particularly during COVID restrictions, invoices submitted by post/paper can take 5-15 days longer to process (from supplier mailing) than invoices submitted through the Ariba network where we usually begin processing within 24 hours of receipt. This can result in a delay in suppliers receiving payment.
SAP Ariba is Elanco’s preferred method of transacting with suppliers, sending purchase orders and receiving invoices. However, suppliers in some countries may not be able to send invoices via the Ariba network due to government regulations or other local requirements. Note: Suppliers that currently use SAP Ariba for heritage-Bayer Animal Health orders should continue to use their existing account for those orders, or continue using the current AP and procurement processes if they are not yet using SAP Ariba. Alignment of Elanco’s two SAP Ariba systems (heritage-Elanco and heritage-Bayer Animal Health) will occur at a later date.

Elanco completed the acquisition of Kindred Biosciences on August 30, 2021. The acquisition expands our existing relationship, enabling us to maximize the impact of our R&D pipeline, bring innovative solutions to veterinarians and pet owners in areas of unmet or under-served medical needs, and ultimately, advance our shared vision of improving the lives of pets. Supplier Information on the Acquisition of Bayer Animal Health
Elanco completed the acquisition of Bayer Animal Health on August 1, 2020. These two complementary animal health-focused organizations are now unbound from human pharma, creating one company solely focused on animal health, dedicated to innovating and delivering for farmers, veterinarians and pet owners. Together, we are committed to providing a more comprehensive portfolio of products along with unparalleled service and support to our customers and the animals in their care, because making their lives better, makes life better.
We are in the process of integrating our business operations and will keep our combined suppliers informed on aspects that might impact the way we work together. Alignment of Elanco’s two SAP Ariba systems (heritage-Elanco and heritage-Bayer Animal Health) will occur at a later date, in the meantime, suppliers should use one of both of the respective SAP and SAP Ariba systems relevant to the contracting part of Elanco.
